OCR: "Transmission" and "Novelty," recorded in July, were released as Joy Division's first single. The second Peel session was recorded at the end of November and was aired in December. The songs, "Love Will Tear Us Apart," "24 Hours," "Colony," and "Sound Of Music," were a preview of material for the second album. Joy Division then recorded "Atmosphere" and "Dead Souls" for a single released on Sordide Sentimental, a French label. In the spring of 1980, Curtis' health worsened and many shows had to be canceled. On May 2, Joy Division played their last show, as a frail Curtis had to be helped offstage. Arrangements were being made for the band's first tour of the US, and the release of the new album and single. Tragically, on the eve of their departure for America, Curtis committed suicide. In ...
